Top 10 in Windows 10

Microsoft has released its new technical preview on Win10 generally known as January release technical preview build 9926. I have been testing  Windows 10  for quite some time now and here are the top 10 features of windows 10. Completely Tested.

1. Start Menu
Well after the numerous request and almost after pretty bad failure of Win 8  start screen .Microsoft have finally brought back its Start Menu but with advanced features. It is basically integration of lovely Win7  start menu (on left) and Win8 Start Menu (on right). You can re size your tiles and have can have quick functions like Account Settings, Quick Links etc. This seems to be great integration and Microsoft have not seem to disappoint this time with its new start menu.

2. Task Viewer/Virtual Desktop
There's a new task view in the Win 10. As microsoft felt that most of the novice users does not know about using the Alt + Tab to switch between applications they have introduced a Task View button directly in the taskbar to help users quickly switch between the apps and also add  a virtual desktop.

Opening apps can get clutter on screen. Therefore microsoft has included a new functionality called Virtual Desktop where you can add as many no of desktops as you want. (I stopped at 94 after getting tired. )

3. Snap Windows

The New Snap Assist feature lets you snap your apps in a lot more cooler and easier way giving you   a small view of the open apps on the other side of the snapped window.

4. File Explorer

The new file explorer is also significantly better and there are changes on the left hand side of the explorer. The share feature previously in the charms bar is included within the explorer and all the icons have also been changed except Recycle Bin. 

5. Continum

Well this is one of the most awesome thing which is included. Continum is an on the-fly-mode for 2 in 1 PCs. Where windows can automatically detect whether you are using touch or keyboard and adjust itself according to the environment. There are being rumors about addition of Charms bar for non touch PC environment which currently are rumors and still have not being included in this build.

6. Cortana Integration  

This is one also one of the most talked feature about the new Win 10.  The integration at this point is not up to the mark though but will improve in the near future. The hands free mode is currently not at its best. But hopes to improve with the coming updates.

7. New Windows Store and Photos UI 

Many apps have got the new UI in the build. But the Windows Store and Photos app have significantly got a lot better and cleaner UI than there previous versions. Windows store has got  more clutter free and nicer UI.

8. Notification Center

Microsoft has included a new notification center which can be a better replacement to the action center. All the notifications are included in the notification center. Wheter it is from One Drive or any system related issues.

9.The Universal Windows and Universal Apps

Windows 10 will be available and will be running on all the devices from phones to PC's and even to servers so there will be universal apps for the universal windows. These are also good features about the developers.

10. Command Prompt gets 10/10

Another amazing feature of the windows is the improvement in the command prompt. For those who are using Command Prompt gets keyboard shortcuts within the command prompt. So you will be able to paste in commands. A great sigh of relief for the developers.

Windows 10 is a huge change for windows and Microsoft success depends on this Windows. We expect more features to be announced as Microsoft gets closer to publicly releasing Windows 10, so stay tuned for more info.
